VALUE IS.......

defined by combining the initial cost of a product plus the cost of operation and replacement.  We call it TCO or Total Cost of Operation.  In communications, and in particular volunteer fire and rescue operations, churches, and municipal use; the purchase is generally made on the basis of traditional purchasing patterns (i.e. we have always purchased xxxx brand and we see no reason to change) or price (low bidder wins - regardless).

The purchase of pagers and handheld radios is a case in point.  Voice monitor pagers have traditionally been used by rescue organizations as a primary means of emergency notification.  There was a time when monitor pagers were chosen because they were smaller and less expensive than personal 2-way radios.  This is no longer true.  Here us an example.

If you've been looking for a new Fire Pager, you need to know about the RP3000 Plus!

If you've been waiting for the ultimate Fire Pager, your wait is over.  The new Relm RP3000 Plus is about the same size, and only a few ounces more in weight than the Minitor V.  This amazing alerting device has all the operational functions of Minitor V including vibrate alert and optional stored voice (RP3600), PLUS it includes a powerful 5/4 watt transmitter with 2-tone, 5-tone, and MDC1200 signaling.  It is user programmable with easy menu driven screen prompts - No PC or special tools required.  Best of all, the price is UNDER $400!  The RP3000 is all new for 2007.  It is a completely new product.  Don't be fooled by Internet advertisers selling off their stock of the original RP3000.  If it isn't an RP3000 PLUS, it's not the real thing!  Additional information is available on the RP3000 PLUS and other fire pagers at www.firepagers.com.   You're going to like the ultimate fire pager!

So, what did we discover by reviewing the information above?  Among other things we learned that there is a micro sized personal alerting receiver that is cost competitive with an ordinary pager and there is no sacrifice in features or performance.  The warranty is twice as long (2 years versus one year for the Minitor V, the audio output is twice as loud - 500 mW for the RP3000 versus approximately 250 mW linear (94 dB @ 12") for the Minitor V.  So what is the biggest complaint we have for the Minitor V?  You guessed it - Audio!  That is why an optional audio amplifier is available for Minitor V - an option not required for the RP3000.

Both products come with audible and silent (vibrate) alert with stored message capability optionally available.  The conclusion?  The RP3000 is an excellent choice as a fire pager.  The RP3000 is an excellent choice as a personal 2-way radio as well.  Why?  Mainly because it is rugged, reliable, feature rich, and affordable.  Here's an example.  What is the number one complaint with users of personal 2-way radios?  The answer is FUNCTIONALITY.  The radio should be lightweight and simple to use with large top mounted knobs - no wimpy little up/down arrows.  It should have a good scan option, nuisance channel delete, maybe an emergency call button, MIL SPEC-81- specifications, and all popular signaling options including MDC-1200, 2-tone page decode/encode, wide/narrow band capable, AND A RELIABLE SPEAKER MICROPHONE CONNECTOR! Are you starting to get the picture?  Value is a whole lot more than low cost, or continuing to purchase the same brand you've always purchased.  For more information on the RP3000 and other fine products by Relm/BK click here!
